A little money can go a long way when buying votive candles and the converse is true that a lot of votive candles can be purchased with a small budget. Votive candles come in a wide selection of quality and unless you absolutely want to spending a lot of money shouldn’t happen. Yes there are specialty candles that command a pretty penny and all-natural, organic, eco-friendly candles that sell for many time that a common candle will, but you can usually get by with the normal candle and only by the others for special occasions.

Votive candles are very common and can be found in craft stores and regular department stores. The online presence of stores carrying votive candles is great with many stores catering to special candles and fewer selling common candles. Most stores will also sell votives in case lots and as with almost everything else buying quantity assures you of cheaper pricing. If you need candles to decorate for a wedding reception or an anniversary dinner buying in bulk should fit into anyone’s budget without straining it a bit.

If you are sensitive to smells or have breathing difficulty you may need to move up to a better class of candle and go with an all-natural beeswax candle. High quality 100% beeswax burns very clean and the only odor it should have is a sweet honey-like scent. They will also have no smoking issues or leave soot residue as they burn. If you need these candles make sure to read the label that comes with the candle as a votive candle only needs to be 51% beeswax to be labeled as a natural, beeswax candle.

Caveat emptor holds true when buying all-natural candles because if you are paying extra for a candle that is supposed to be higher quality, you should get what you pay for. Unless you choose to go with a more expensive candle the lesser priced paraffin based candles should work fine for large receptions and general use and take a smaller bite out of your budget.
